Badge pinning ceremony for eight newly promoted supervisors

Eight supervisor promotions

     Badges will be pinned on the newest members of the Pensacola Police Department’s leadership team during a ceremony next week.

     The ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, May 22, at the Sanders Beach-Corinne Jones Resource Center, 913 South I St. The newly promoted supervisors are:

     - Kevin Christman has been promoted from lieutenant to captain. Christman was hired as a cadet on October 6, 1997. He was promoted to police officer on April 19, 1999, to sergeant on February 20, 2012 and to lieutenant on August 3, 2015. Among his assignments have been Uniform Patrol, field training officer, K-9 handler, Vice & Narcotics, Investigations, and SWAT commander.
He has received two Meritorious Service Awards, a Unit Citation, two Life Saving Awards, and been named Officer of the Month three times from the department; and a Sertoma Officer of the Year Award.
     - Kristin Brown has been promoted from lieutenant to captain. Brown was hired as a cadet on January 29, 1996. She was promoted to police officer on June 30, 1997, to sergeant on April 10, 2006, and to lieutenant on August 3, 2015. Among her assignments have been Uniform Patrol, field training officer, TAC, Vice & Narcotics, Crisis Negotiation Team, and Investigations.
She has received two Meritorious Service Awards and named  Officer of the Month twice from the department; a Daughters of the American Revolution Officer of the Year Award, and an American Legion Post 193 Officer of the Year Award.
     - John Austin has been promoted from sergeant to lieutenant. Austin was hired as a police officer on September 4, 1995 and promoted to sergeant on May 9, 2005. Among his assignments have been Uniform Patrol, field training officer, TAC, Vice & Narcotics, Investigations, Training and Personnel, Pensacola International Airport, and SWAT commander.
He has received a Bronze Cross, Chief’s Award, two Unit Citations, and multiple Meritorious Service Awards from the department plus a Police and Firefighters Life-saving Medal.

     - Matthew Coverdale has been promoted from sergeant to lieutenant. Coverdale was hired as a police officer on August 23, 2004 and promoted to sergeant on December 9, 2013. Among his assignments have been Uniform Patrol, field training officer/sergeant, Investigations, Vice & Narcotics, Community Oriented Policing Services, and SWAT.
He has received a Bronze Star, a Silver Star, a Unit Citation, twice named Officer of the Month, and three letters of commendation from the department; and also a U.S. Attorney’s Award.
     - James Reese has been promoted from sergeant to lieutenant. Reese was hired as a cadet on December 20, 1999, promoted to police officer on May 17, 2001 and to sergeant on September 30, 2013. Among his assignments have been Uniform Patrol, field training officer/sergeant, Investigations, Neighborhood Services, and Honor Guard/officer-in-charge.
He has received a Chief’s Award, Meritorious Service Award, two Unit Citations, twice named Officer of the Month, and three certificates of commendation from the department.
     - Maria Landy has been promoted from officer to sergeant. She was hired as a cadet on July 1, 1996 and promoted to officer on August 26, 1996. Among her assignments have been Uniform Patrol, field training officer, Investigations, Vice & Narcotics, Neighborhood Policing, Crisis Negotiation Team, and Pensacola International Airport.
She has received two Life Saving Awards from the department and an Officer of the Year Award from the Sons of the American Revolution.
     - David Hausner has been promoted from officer to sergeant. He was hired as a police officer on June 5, 2000. Among his assignments have been Uniform Patrol, field training officer, K-9 handler, Vice & Narcotics, Investigations, and SWAT.
     - Dylan Stackpole has been promoted from officer to sergeant. He was hired as a police officer on April 24, 2004. Among his assignments have been Uniform Patrol, field training officer, Investigations, and SWAT.
He has received Officer of the Month, Unit Citation, certificate of commendation, and a Meritorious Service Award from the department; Hero with a Heart from the Trauma Intervention Program; and Escambia County Domestic Violence Coalition award for investigation of a domestic violence incident.
